2007 Guntersville Swim Team Coaches

Left to Right: Jennifer Wood, Chris Collins, Arielle Kowalsky,  Head Coach Debby Roberts, Ethan Collins and Catherine Greenwell.

Head Coach:

Debby Roberts

Debby was born in Montana to a military family and had an opportunity to travel around. She attended high school in Michigan, where her family settled. She returns to Michigan once a year to visit. Debby is married to Windale Roberts and has two children who are both on swim team.

Debby began her career teaching swimming lessons. Debby's father was a YMCA director, so she grew up around the water. Debby's career then progressed to swim coach/program director in the Athens Parks and Recreation Department in 1977. From 1985-1989 she was a recreation director in Athens.

She missed programming and coaching, though, so in 1990 she came to Guntersville and established herself as program director and pool manager/swim coach. "My favorite part of coaching is watching kids meet goals and succeed and seeing them excel above their expectations," she says.

I am a senior at Guntersville High School. I am on the school swim team and tennis team.  My favorite stroke is the freestyle and my least favorite stroke is the breaststroke.

I am a senior at Guntersville High School and I play varsity volleyball.  I was a member of the 2004 & 2005 state championship winning volleyball team.  I love the color blue, cats, shopping, running and music.  My favorite food is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and I love water.  Breast stroke is my best stroke and I'm working really hard to beat the pool record!

I plan to attend Alabama to major in psychology.

Arielle Kowalsky

I am a junior at Guntersville High School and I swim on the high school swim team.  Also I play softball for the rec. center.  I help with the swim team during the summer.  When I go to college I want to become a physical therapist because I like working with people.

My best stroke is the backstroke and this summer I am trying to break one of the pool records.
